Cookies policy

Last updated: 2026-05-25

This page lists the cookies and similar storage technologies we use on macawshub.com, what each one does, and how to control them. For the broader privacy context (what data is processed, who processes it, and your rights), see the privacy policy.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device. We also use related browser storage (localStorage) for the consent record. Cookies are used to remember preferences, to measure how visitors use the site, and to power optional analytics or product-research tools.

We sort the cookies we use into three categories. The strictly-necessary category is set as soon as you open the site (we cannot reasonably ask permission for a cookie whose only purpose is to record permission). The other two categories load only after you accept them in the consent banner.

1. Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to function — the consent record itself, page-navigation state, and your language preference. They cannot be turned off.

Cookie / pattern Purpose Lifetime Controller
cc_cookie Records which consent categories you accepted so the banner does not re-appear. 182 days First-party (macawshub.com)

2. Analytics

Loaded only after you accept the "Analytics" category. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-R4RMG28298) with IP anonymization enabled. Data is aggregated to help us understand which pages help visitors and which do not.

Cookie / pattern Purpose Lifetime Controller
_ga Distinguishes unique visitors for Google Analytics. 2 years First-party (data sent to Google)
_ga_R4RMG28298 Persists session state for Google Analytics 4. 2 years First-party (data sent to Google)

3. Product research

Loaded only after you accept the "Product research" category. Hotjar (operated by Contentsquare) records anonymized session replays and heatmaps so we can spot points of friction. Personal text is masked by default; we do not record forms or sensitive inputs.

Cookie / pattern Purpose Lifetime Controller
_hjSessionUser_* Identifies a returning Hotjar user (anonymized). 1 year Third-party (Hotjar / Contentsquare)
_hjSession_* Holds the current Hotjar session ID. 30 minutes Third-party (Hotjar / Contentsquare)
_hjFirstSeen, _hjAbsoluteSessionInProgress Tracks new-visitor state for Hotjar. Session Third-party (Hotjar / Contentsquare)
_cs_*, _uxa_* Contentsquare experience analytics — visitor identity and pageviews. Up to 13 months Third-party (Contentsquare)

Changing your mind

You can withdraw or update your consent at any time. Click Cookie preferences in the site footer (or the floating cookie icon in the corner) to re-open the preferences modal. When you turn a category off, the relevant cookies are automatically cleared from your browser on the next page load.

You can also clear cookies and site data via your browser settings. Doing this resets the consent record, so the banner will re-appear on your next visit.
